For years I have wondered why we sing Carols, but not "Happy Birthday" at Christmas time... with all the gift-giving, I think we ought to have cake and party hats, too.

The Wal-Mart is coming along nicely. Its construction has necessitated the near destruction of the main thoroughfare that we use to get from here to wherever, so I wish they would finish already. We have a nice view of the Wal-Monolith from the deck, between the little white frame house across the road and the church with the "Happy Birthday Jesus" sign. They have thoughtfully installed some industrial lighting so that we can find the store in the middle of the night.
